Social Samvad/Jamshedpur: The second edition of Johar Haat will be organised from February 14 to 21 at Prakriti Vihar in Kadma. This month, the tribal centric exhibition will be based on the themes of Maghe Parab, Baha and Holi, all of which are festivals of prime importance to the tribal community. Visitors will be able to experience this theme through the décor of the exhibition as well as through various products, cuisines and performances.

Johar Haat was conceptualised by Tata Steel Foundation to create a dedicated space for exhibiting the art, craft, cuisine and culture of tribes across India through a week-long exhibition every month. The first edition of Johar Haat organised in January this year witnessed participation from 21 people from 6 states representing 6 tribes.

This month’s Johar Haat will host around 8 stalls with participants from 5 states representing over 11 tribes. The participating organisations include Pragati Udyog Mahila Samiti representing Santhal/Bhumij tribe, Sabai Grass representing Bodo tribe, Bamboo and Tumba Shilpa Kala representing Gond tribe, M/s Weaving and Knitting representing Rengma tribe, Akakhysa Tribal Producer Group representing Santhal/Saura tribe, Adivasi Luga representing Oraon tribe, Ajeevika Maa Saraswati Samuh representing Mahali tribe and Mandi Edppa Shagun Mahila Samiti representing Lodha, Munda & Santhal tribes.

The exhibition will also have a ‘Fusion of Jharkhand food’ stall hosted by participants from Khadiya tribe and an Organic Gulal & Tribal Tattoo stall hosted by participants from Santhal/ Bhumij tribes.
